I decided to model Blu in super sculpy for three reasons
The Images bellow show the stages of development. The first six were taken after the models first bake, where I baked the body with a card structure for the wings. The one bellow those are the model backed with the wings. By baking in two stages I could work on the wings without worrying about ruining the detail on the rest of the body or face.
- Drawings along couldn't convey his proportions. When you draw you think about composition and may sacrifice proportions for aesthetics. By making a model I had a clear more crystallised view of the characters build and proportions.
- This leads onto my second reason; if this project is going to be green light, this model will provide excellent reference to the modeller, myself or another student. Of course the CG model will be different but I've found having something in front of you can rotate really helps when your modelling in the computer though a 2D view.
- I was on holiday and wanted to have bit of fun.
