LO5/6: After giving Nadia she sent me a new obj of the model which I reviewed and annotated for her to make some alterations. Nadia had no problems with my notes and had no problems in their application. Over all at this stage we are working well together and our communication is effective which is very important with our collaboration.
LO5/6: Nadia gave me a new draft of the creature which we reviewed and I asked Nadia to give me screen grabs of what she had done so far so that I could create new character sheets to incorporate the new feather design. I gave Nadia a description of what the different colours meant as each colour indicating to a different element of the character which she found very helpful and said what she could use to finnish another draft of the model.
The way the wing is going to be built is dependent on how it is going to be rigged so this meant that Nadia and I would have to work very closely on this aspect. I had started to create a rough rig wing working form simple bird anatomy.
I would have for work on the feather arrangement and rigging but the base structure of the wing could be modelled by Nadia with ease. We both agreed that Nadia could model this limb simply and work on the rest of the model in which time I would design the rigging. Nadia produced a first rough draft of the head which followed the owl geo example which was very simple. I however felt that that the face still needed feather- very simple- around the face to convey the chacter I have in mind. So i took her screen grab and annotated it to show how i wanted the feathers around the face. I also added a bit more detail around the beck as the character performcace needed it. We then discussed how the feathers should be created- wither extruded or interesting geo. I decided on extruded geo as it would be easier to rig and there would be no intersecting.
When pitching the project I discover that creating feathers was going to be difficult so Nadia and I were discussing how we could achieve the feathers. Using inspiration form the animation Nebula and some image reasurch form Nadia we desicided to have simple genomarty to indicate feathers in a few select placed on the creatures body.
To model my characters I have teamed up with Nadia to create my characters in 3D. The first character we will be tackling is the hippogriff as this is the most complex out of the tow characters. I started the collaboration off by giving Nadia the 3D sculpture of I made of the hippogriff to give her something to work off. To help start the modelling Nadia requested 3 views of the head so using photos I have form the model I drew up a head model sheet. I also referred Nadia to take a look at an animated short Nebula which I posted in our group face book page to show the kind of feathers I was hopping to achieve.
