LO2/5: After meeting with my music composer it was decided that one of the opening shots should be extended to accommodate the music. The shot extended is shot 3 with a continued pan towards the moon. I think that this new timing works well specially if to accommodate the music
This is the most updated version of the animatic which is now an animatic in progress as I have inserted shot 3 into the sequence replacing the rough graphic. I have also removed shots which I think are unnecessary so this is now a cleaner version. LO2: After creating the revised set of story boards to creat stronger character inteaction I felt confident enought with the narrative to take it to animatic stage. LO7: Seeing the story boards to time shows how far the story has developed and I feel that it is much stronger in content, especailly in character performace. Main points of feedback:
The animatic times out at about 1:40 and is accompanied by music composed by Alex Brennand-Roper. The music is to be developed further but what has been created so far fits the mood of the animation perfectly- at least for the girl. When the Hippogriff is aggressive the music will change to reflect the moon change. The Feedback on the pitch and aniamtic was that the piece was very visual but the character interaction was not extensive and the ending left much untold and unsaid.
I was disappointed that the animatic didn't give a great sense of character performance and I want to develop the story to rectify this. also a change which will be making is how the mixing of the colours takes place. In the pitch animatic the colours mix by accident without the characters noticing or actively participating in that activity. I want to change this and make it so that the characters actively start to create new colours and form around them. This is the first draft of the soundscape which I will be adding to the animatic to help pitch the project. I wanted a soft collection of sounds and have the music which Drue Johnson also created the music which was used to emphasis the key moments in the storyline. So this animatic is ready for the pitch but of course will no doubt have to be reworked if it is taken forward. I wanted to have sound to my animatic to make it more interesting to watch. i've looked at animatics made by Dream Works for How to Train you Dragon and the visuals are simple with simple movement but are made more alive by having the scots voices already in place and a few sound affects.
i don't have any dialogue but i will be needing sound affects and music. so i have decided to collaborate with Drue Johnson to create a sound scape for my animatic. From my initial storyboards I created this animatic for my pitch. I think it's a lot more engaging to have moving imagery to help convey an idea than stills; especially as I really want to entice the audience (my colleges) enough to get my project green light and to gain enough interest for people to join my group. |
